Interrupting Criminalization Curriculum
During Interrupting Criminalization’s chrysalis year in 2024, we invited organizers and supporters to join us in self-directed independent study using the wealth of incredible resources created by our team over the past 5 years. While we created this to be explored in 2024, the curriculum continues to be relevant in our ongoing struggles and as we face concurrent crises — and as such, we encourage you to use, engage with, and share these resources as you see fit.
As we mobilize to stop ongoing genocides in Gaza, the West Bank, the Sudan and beyond, as well as corporate and state-sponsored violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and navigate increasingly dire conditions on every front in the U.S. and at the border, we hope that these curricula can be helpful in creating a roadmap and container for individuals and groups to really dig into the wealth of toolkits, reports, and resources for organizers we’ve created over the past 5 years, and to support you in using and applying them in your local contexts and campaigns, including current efforts to stop the ongoing genocide and end the occupation in Palestine.
Curriculum Areas
We’ve organized the curriculum into four areas — pick one, mix and match, or do all four!
Each curriculum area is divided into three “semesters.” When you click on a curriculum area, you’ll be able to view all the semesters for that subject.
Do them on your own, with your friends and comrades, or as part of your organization’s political education program!
For each semester, we point you to readings as well as visual, audio, or video resources to accommodate a range of learning styles, and offer a series of reflection questions to support you in applying the contents to your context. We encourage you to explore these at your own pace; feel free to jump directly to the topics that you feel are most useful for you.
We encourage you to reach out to our Transformative Justice Help Desk and Abolition Media Office Hours to talk through what you learn, brainstorm how you can apply it to your organizing and campaigns, and think through how to move through challenges and obstacles.
You can find links to the curriculum via the issue area buttons above! As always, we love to hear from you and welcome your feedback at info@interruptingcriminalization.org.
