Don’t Be A Copagandist: Criminalization of Migration Edition

How we talk about migration and borders has a direct effect on how we respond to escalating state violence against migrants. As part of our “Don’t Be A Copagandist” series, Interrupting Criminalization and Migrant Roots Media will share some general guidelines for writing about and telling migration stories through a lens that centers the root causes of migration.

Goals of this interactive workshop:

  • Learn to apply a root cause analysis to migration stories

  • Share tips for avoiding “copaganda” when covering migration and the criminalization of migrants

  • Meet other journalists and media makers who are pushing for ethical coverage of criminalization and migration

We will offer live closed captioning and provide written materials before and after the event. However, this event will *not* be recorded to encourage full interactive participation from participants, so please join live if you want to be part of the conversation.
